Week 1 · This Week's Small Act
Take a one-hour walk
This week, you're invited to give yourself one uninterrupted hour outside. No podcast, no destination, no productivity. Just you and your own thoughts.
My Story In 2022, I spent six hours walking through San Diego, California. I felt lost, exhausted, and disconnected from my life. Therapy had helped me understand myself, but understanding wasn't changing anything. As I walked, I kept asking myself uncomfortable questions: What do I actually want?
What if I stopped living the life I thought I should want and gave myself permission to pursue the one I truly wanted? By the end of the walk, I didn't have all the answers. But I knew I couldn't keep ignoring the questions.
Why this act
This week’s act is about creating space to hear your own thoughts. We often move through life following what we think we should want, without pausing to ask what we truly want. A walk creates room for honesty, reflection, and the questions we’ve been avoiding.
- 1Pick an hour this week and put it somewhere you'll see it.
- 2Leave your headphones at home. Bring your phone only for safety.
- 3Walk without a destination. Let your mind wander where it wants.
- 4When you get back, write down one sentence before the feeling fades.
What is something I already know deep down, but haven’t given myself permission to admit?
